Arboretum Residency Day One

What an amazing first day of our residency at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, MA. The morning started off right with a preview article in the Boston Globe! I was stoked to speak with the reporter, David, and blown away by his words! Check out the article hereEnsemble Evolution brings treetop sounds to arboretum

Yesterday, we began the "Open Rehearsal" at 3pm. We didn't expect to many patrons, but were suddenly energized by the large, attentive audience that showed up! We wrote and workshopped a new piece that will be premiered tonight, inspired by the landscape and photos by Adam DeTour. I was so proud to share the stage with Jake and Charles again, and impressed by the trust and confidence we have in each other. It was a special session that kicked this weekend off right! Two of the guests wrote me an email following the session, and their words have put me on cloud nine:

We were just blown away by this afternoon’s session. It was an honor and joy to be able to witness creativity in the making. Because of your generosity and warmth, we were able to see and hear your piece take shape. When we arrived at 3:PM, we had no idea what to expect. We knew the Arboretum, we knew a bit about percussion instruments, and knew nothing about you three. An hour later, we were transformed. Your sense of what the Arboretum conveys brilliantly arose from your talent, your collaboration, your art. Being present for that journey is an experience we will not soon forget. We are still talking about it.
